Eight sign with PC softball program

Presbyterian College and head softball coach Britne Stubbs announced the signing of pitcher Camryn Alverson (Summerville, S.C.), infielder Hailey Caswell (Jacksonville, Fla.), infielder Alexis Edgerton (Columbia, S.C.), catcher Macy Hyatt (Latta, S.C.), outfielder Chelsea Lyons (Jesup, Ga.), pitcher Sarah Ramsbottom (Maidens, Va.), catcher Grace Wallace (North Augusta, S.C.), and outfielder Ansley Wilbanks (Hiram, Ga.)

“I am extremely excited about our 2017 incoming class,” said Coach Stubbs. “I believe in the talent and character of these eight young ladies and I know they will all do extraordinary things here at Presbyterian College on and off the field. It's a very exciting time and I couldn't be happier to welcome them to the Blue Hose family.”

Camryn Alverson - RHP - R/R - 6-0 - Summerville, S.C./Ashley Ridge

High School: A member of the varsity softball team for six years, the team was SC 4A Region 8 Champion and District runner-up ... In 2016 Alverson was named SC 4A Region 8 Player of the Year, Ashley Ridge High School MVP, and Ashley Ridge High School Offensive Player of the Year ... She was also named to the CAWS All-State Team, the HSSR All-State Team, the All-LowCountry Team ... Her pitching stats in 2016 included a 10-0 record, 60 strikeouts, a 1.40 ERA ... She also batted .566, with 22 RBI and three home runs ...  Clubbed with the Carolina Elite ... A member of the National Honor Society, was president of Spanish Honor Society, and was an Academic Letter Recipient from 2014-2016 ...

Hailey Caswell - IF - R/R - 5-8 - Jacksonville, Fla./Darnell Cookman

High School: Her high school Darnell Cookman was a medical magnet that didn't have high school sports, so she played for the Sandalwood HS Saints as a junior and senior ... She was the starting shortstop and batted clean-up ...  Earned a varsity letter in softball both seasons ... was the team MVP and Team Captain ... Caswell was named to the First Team All Gateway Conference ... She had the highest batting average on team and posted three home-runs her junior year ...  She clubbed with the Carolina Elite 18U and started at several spot, including shortstop, second base, and catcher ... She was a National Society of High School Scholar and was awarded membership into the Darnell Cookman chapter of NHS ... She placed third in Regional science fair, three years in a row ...

In 2016 she carried a .414 batting average, a .464 on base percentage, an .899 fielding percentage, and posted 36 hits, 35 runs, 16 RBI and 22 stolen bases ... Macy Hyatt - C/3B - R/R - 5-10 - Latta, S.C./Latta

High School: Played on the varsity HS team from 7th to12th grade ... The team won the region championship in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, and was Lower State Champions in 2012 and 2015, with a Lower State appearance in 2016 ... The team was State Champion in 2015 ... She was a member of the HSSR All-State team from 2012-2016, the All-Region team from 2012-2016, 2014, and was 2016 Region 8A Player of the Year ... She was also on the CAWS All-State team in 2014 and 2016, 2014 and was the 2016 Team Offensive MVP ... In 2015 Hyatt held a batting average of .446 and an on base percentage of .474 ... High School: Played outfield for Wayne County HS, was on varsity team all four years ... Winning the regional championship multiple times, her team reached the Final Four her sophomore and junior year, the Elite Eight senior year ... Lyons was on the All Region team from 2012-2014 ... Batted .496 as a junior, with only three strike outs ... She also played soccer, and was a varsity forward all four years ... Sarah Ramsbottom - RHP - R/R - 5-5 - Maidens, Va./Goochland

High School: Her high school team was conference champion in 2016 ... She was a four-year varsity starter at a pitcher and third baseman ... As a freshman, shw was a starting pitcher for the Central VA Patriots, with 98 strikeouts during the season ... With a .303 batting average, she was named Defensive Player of the Year that season ... As a sophomore she started and posted 103 strikeouts and was named Most Valuable Player ... She carried a .342 batting average with two home runs ... She moved to Goochland her junior and senior season, starting third  bases for the team ... She Clubbed for the Lady Lightning Gold from 2014 to 2017 ... Was a pitcher and third baseman ...
