Clinton woman charged with abuse of vulnerable adult

Agents of the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested a Clinton woman on Friday in connection with injuries to a vulnerable adult earlier this year.

Maya Alexzandra Threatt, 21, of 700 E. Carolina Ave., was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult, a felony which carries a penalty upon conviction of up to five years in prison.

According to warrants, Threatt is accused of throwing a handful of pebbles at the victim and striking him in the chest with an open hand on March 21, 2017. The victim was treated for bleeding and swelling to his bottom lip, bleeding to the right side of his tongue and a large red area to his upper abdomen.

The incident occurred at Whitten Center, located at 28373 US 76 in Clinton.  

The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs.

Threatt was booked at the Johnson Detention Center.

According to SLED, the case will be prosecuted by the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
