Clinton High School will get a new region mate after the appellate panel hearings on realignment on Tuesday at the South Carolina High School League. Union County won their appeal by a vote of 4-3 and will join Clinton in Region 3-3A for 2018-20.

Clinton will stay in Region 3-3A and will be joined by Mid-Carolina, Newberry, Emerald, Union County and Woodruff.

Union County was slated to move to 4A and be one of the smallest schools in that classification. Now they will be one of the largest in 3A.

3A will have four five-team regions and four six-team regions. Clinton will be in the middle of the pack as far as size is concerned for 3A schools with 824 students.
