Clinton boys and girls cross country teams qualify for state championship

The Clinton boys and girls cross country teams both qualified for the state AAA cross country championship for the first time in school history after successful runs at the Upper State Championships on Saturday.

The boys and girls state AAA cross country championship will be held on Saturday in Columbia.

Clinton girls finished seventh in the Upper State Championships. Results are as follows:

12th Paige Trent 20:57

43rd Erykah Richard 22:41

70th Chelsea Hill 24:21

78th Ava Machione 24:47

89th Amy Smith 27:53

Clinton boys finish ninth overall in the Upper State Championships. This is the first time since 2012 that the boys team has qualified for the state championship.
