Crusaders suffer loss to Robert E. Lee Academy
Friday, 02 October 2009 21:59

The Laurens Academy Crusaders traveled to Bishopville, SC on Friday night and came up on the short end of the scoreboard in a 27-16 loss to Robert E. Lee Academy.

"Our boys fought harder tonight than they have all season... it was a very physical game," said LA Head Coach Todd Kirk.

The Crusaders were down 17-8 going into the 3rd quarter when a failed reverse by LA was picked up by the Cavaliers and run into the end zone to extend the lead to 24-8.  A field goal would get Robert E. Lee their final points and put them up over LA 27-8.

The Crusaders answered back with a touchdown of their own but couldn't seem to pick up any more momentum.  "They were blitzing us all night... we just couldn't seem to pull out the right play," said Kirk.

Laurens Academy falls to 3-3 on the season and will return home next Friday to face Clarendon Hall.
