The Laurens Academy varsity baseball team improved their season record to one game over .500 on Friday night with a 11-1 win over Newberry Academy.
Joshua Caviness pitched four innings, picking up his first win giving up one run on three hits, three walks and five strikeouts. Ryland Culbertson pitched the 5th, striking out three with one runner reaching by error. Alex Satterfield made his return the mound to pitch the 6th, hitting a batter and then striking out three.
Brandon Martin went 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ryland Culbertson was 2-3 with two homeruns and two RBI. Griffin Shell went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. JE Satterfield had a triple with 2 RBI. Taylor Sims, Christian Greene and Caleb Sims each added singles.
The Crusaders improved to 8-7 (2-0) and will host Crescent High School on Monday at 7:00 pm.
