Victim identified after fatal motorcycle accident on Hwy. 72 near Lake Greenwood

One person is dead after a fatal motorcycle accident on Hwy. 72 near Lake Greenwood on Saturday night.

According to Trooper Joe Hovis, the accident occurred at 9:38pm approximately 3.3 miles south of Cross Hill.

The driver was operating a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle and was wearing a helmet.  

Hovis said the driver was traveling south on Hwy. 72 near Lake Greenwood when they went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Hovis.

The victim has been identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office as 54-year-old Jeff Lindley of Greenville.
