Laurens man turns himself in after Sunday morning standoff

A Laurens man turned himself in at the Laurens Police Department on Friday after being involved in a domestic violence incident on Sunday morning.

Antonio Marquise Hunter, 29, of 201 Garlington St. in Laurens is charged with domestic violence-high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, discharging a firearm in the city limits and pointing and presenting a firearm.

Laurens Police were called to Fleming St. around 7am on Sunday morning on the report of a man shooting a gun. When officers arrived, the suspect had fled to a residence at 201 Garlington St.

Officers went to the residence but could not get anyone to the door. Police set up a perimeter and obtained a warrant for entry into the residence.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team entered the residence but found no one there.

Hunter was booked at the Johnson Detention Center.
