District 55 board approves administrative changes for 2017-2018

In addition to a new principal and varsity boys basketball coach at LDHS, the Laurens School District 55 board of trustees approved five more administrative contracts for the 2017-2018 academic year at a special called meeting on Monday.

Dr. Rhett Harris will become the Director of Operations at the District 55 administrative office. Harris currently serves as principal at Laurens Middle School.

Jennifer Abercrombie will continue in her role as principal at Waterloo Elementary School. Abercrombie was named the interim principal at Waterloo in March, replacing Taria McIntosh. Abercrombie previously served as assistant principal at E.B. Morse Elementary.

Debbie Bishop will become the assistant principal at Ford Elementary. Bishop filled Abercrombie’s position as assistant principal at E.B. Morse Elementary in March. Bishop previously served as a district instructional coach.

Regina Childers has been named the Director of Guidance at Laurens District High School.

Childers has been a school counselor in Spartanburg District Five since 2013. She previously served as a school counselor in District 55 for 11 years and taught in the district for 16 years.

Randy Dendy will become the principal at Laurens Elementary School. Dendy is currently the assistant principal at Laurens Elementary School.

Jeff Brink has been named a district technology coach. Brink is currently a teacher at Hickory Tavern School.

Marcia Womble has been named an assistant principal at Gray Court-Owings School. Womble is currently a teacher at Gray Court-Owings School.
