A pedestrian was reportedly hit by a truck this morning in Laurens but Laurens Police are not able to substantiate any of the victim’s claims, according to Assistant Chief Chrissie Cofield.

Officers with the Laurens Police Dept. responded to a call around 8am on Saturday morning on the report of a man lying on the side of East Farley St., near Sanders Middle School. A person reportedly found the man near the road and called 911.

According to reports, the man told police he was walking down East Farley St. and was struck by a truck. The man also told police that the two men driving the truck stole his wallet.

The man was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital just before 9am.

Cofield said on Saturday evening that none of the man’s claims can be substantiated, including whether he was hit by a vehicle. Cofield said that the case is still under investigation and they hope to have more information by Monday.
