Coroner: Laurens County man dies from self-inflicted gunshot wound

A Laurens County man found with a gunshot wound in his home on Tuesday has died, according to Laurens County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jarvis Reeder.

Reeder said that the Laurens County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death a suicide by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Just before 3:30pm on Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Simmons Road in the Greenpond Community of Laurens County in reference to a domestic violence call for service.

While deputies were responding to this call, dispatchers with the Laurens County E-911 informed deputies that a person inside the residence had injuries from a gunshot. When deputies arrived at the scene, they located a black male that had an injury that consisted of a gunshot wound to the upper extremities of his body.

The victim was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
