Four Laurens District High School students played alongside the best orchestra members of the Upstate this past weekend at the Region 1 Orchestra Weekend at Dorman High School.

Elaine Armstrong (11-12 violin), Liliana Garcia (9-10 violin), Christopher Koscher (11-12 viola) and Dakota Traynham (11-12 bass) are considered among the top performers on their instruments in the region.

All four students will have the ability to audition for All-State in January, where they will compete with the top performers in the state.

“I want to take this orchestra to the next level and make the community proud to have the privilege of this amazing art form for our students to express themselves,” said LDHS Strings Orchestra Director Andrew Chavarria. “I want to get all of Laurens involved in our program to help us attain our goals and aspirations for this program. We are getting bigger and bigger every year and running out of space and have a tight budget that limits us.”
