The award marks the second time this season a Citadel cadet-athlete has been tabbed a Shooter of the Month by the conference office as freshman Max Brabston was named the Smallbore Shooter of the Month in October.
In the Bulldogs' last match of 2017, Auten finished one point off her season-best score in air rifle with a 587 against N.C. State and Georgia Southern on Saturday, Nov. 11. Her 587 placed her second in the discipline as she was just two points off the top spot held by N.C. State's Lauren Phillips. Auten used the strong air rifle score to place sixth in aggregate scoring with an 1153, four points off the top-five. She boasted the team's highest aggregate and air rifle scores in the match.
The Citadel will host the 2018 SoCon Rifle Championships March 3-4, 2018 inside the Inouye Marksmanship Center as well as the 2018 NCAA Rifle Championships March 8-10, 2018 inside McAlister Field House.
