Born in Clinton and raised in Laurens, he was a son of the late J. Boney and Minnie Mae Grumbles Shipman. Frank served as a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Army in the mid 1950’s, and for 35 years worked for 3M/Ceramtec. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flying. He was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Darlene Shipman Roberts and husband Billy Roberts, Jr., Frank Neylan Shipman, and Rodney Dewitt Shipman and wife Staci Alexander Shipman; grandchildren, Melissa Roberts, Cori Roberts Wilson, Jaime Roberts Bishop, Isaac Shipman, Brad Shipman, and Rebecca Shipman Allman; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Shelby Jean Alexander; a brother, Claude Shipman, and his canine companion Rusty.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: a sister, Margaret Honeycutt and brothers, Dewitt, J.B., and Tarrell Shipman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 17, 2017, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Pastor Dan Bradley and Pastor Blaine Hudson, followed by interment in Forest Lawn East Cemetery with Military Rites.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
