Born May 2, 1959 in Clinton, SC, he was the son of Betty Taylor Suddeth of Clinton and the late Broadus Noland Suddeth. Noland received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1982. Two years later in 1984, a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a power engineering focus was conferred. Upon leaving Clemson in 1984, he began his thirty-three year career with Duke Power and held positions of increasing importance in System Planning, System Operations, Information Technology and Transmission until retiring from Duke Energy in March 2017.
Noland served his alma mater by being a faithful member of the Clemson Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Board of Advocates from 2012 to 2017. He also served on the Board of Truliant Federal Credit Union for several years, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Dowd YMCA. He was also a member of Myers Park Baptist Church.
Noland was passionate about photography, as well as trains. He was an avid Clemson tiger fan and had hoped to return to retire there in later years.
He is survived by his son, Graham Noland Suddeth of Charlotte, whom he loved dearly; his sisters, Linda Smith (Larry) of Columbia, SC and Ann Graydon (Danny) of Laurens, SC; and his nephews, Corey Graydon (Amber), Bryson Graydon and Mitch Graydon, all of Laurens; as well as his great-nephew, Emmett Graydon.
