Born in Clinton, S.C. , she was the daughter of the late Ben Capers and Zonie Nix Cannon. Mrs. Zonie Belle was a devout Christian, a loving wife and a caring mother. She was a kind hearted soul who loved her babies no matter how old they happened to be. The most harsh words to ever come out of her mouth were, “OH GOODNESS”, “GOODNESS”, “GOODNESS”,”GOODNESS”.
Zonie Belle retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation after 37 years of service. She often remarked that she wished she would have worked longer. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and she enjoyed the friendships and close bonds that she made there.
Surviving are her sons, and daughter-in-laws that she thought so highly of: Kent Jenkins and wife Shay of Honea Path, Phillip Jenkins and wife Paulette of Hickory Tavern, and Steve Jenkins of Hickory Tavern; eight grandchildren that brought such joy and pride to her: Logan, Andrew and wife Dana, Zack, Jake, Jocelyne, Jordan, Jared, and Jenaray; two great grandchildren that warmed her heart.: Dallas and Lyon. She loved all of her babies soooo.
She was predeceased by her husband Vernon Ray Jenkins and her siblings, four brothers; Grady, Joe, Perry, and Abram Cannon and four sisters; Vashti Hudson, Ida Baldwin, Katharine Soulsby, and Martha McCoig. Zonie Belle was the baby and last surviving member of this large family.
