Raiders shut out Vikings, 6-0

The Laurens Raiders broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 6-0 shutout of the Emerald Vikings in their final game of the Green Wave Invitational on Saturday in Easley.

Laurens scored five in the fourth in one in the fifth. Nick Howell did the rest on the mound with seven innings of shutout baseball. Howell allowed three hits and struck out seven.

Ethan Jones and Morgan French started the fourth with singles, followed by an RBI double by Jalen Bragg. Nate Weiss walked and later scored and Howell drove in a run with a bunt single. Ty Foster finished out the inning with an RBI single to give Laurens a 5-0 lead.

In the fifth, Jones doubled to start the inning and Weiss drove him in with a 2-out single.

Jones was 2 for 4 with a double and Bragg was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Foster, French, Weiss and Howell added hits for the Raiders.

Laurens finished the Green Wave Invitational with a record of 3-1. The Raiders improve to 16-6 and will play at Clinton on Thursday at 7pm.
