The new coaches will be recommended for approval at the District 55 school board meeting in May.

Liner has chosen Lee Taylor as his new defensive coordinator. Taylor is the former head coach at Mauldin High School, where he also served as the assistant athletic director. Taylor was at Mauldin from 2006 – 2017 and served as the head football coach from 2013 – 2017. Prior to his work at Mauldin, Taylor was the head football coach at Southside High School from 2000 – 2005.

Taylor began his coaching career at Holly Hill Academy before moving onto Stall High School and then J.L. Mann High School where he served as an assistant coach. Taylor has 28 years of coaching experience and backs that up with a Masters of Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.

Laurens native Jamie Childress has been named the head coach of the C team. Childress is a graduate of LDHS, playing both football and baseball. He played baseball at Presbyterian College and began his coaching career there, working 3 years for current Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin.

A 22-year coaching veteran, Childress has had stops at McCormick, Emerald, Northwestern and Ninety-Six, coaching football and baseball at each of these schools.  He worked for Liner for six years at Ninety-Six High School.

Childress is married to the former Leigh Blackwell, also a Laurens native, and they have two sons, James and Jacob. Jacob is currently playing baseball at Lander University.
