Ginn, Clark lead 2017 All-Laurens County softball team

Laurens High School senior shortstop C.J. Ginn has been named the Laurens County Softball Player of the Year for 2017.

Laurens High School head coach Butch Clark was named the Laurens County Softball Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season.

Each season, coaches from Laurens Academy, Clinton High School and Laurens High School nominate players from their team to be named to the All-Laurens County softball team. Laurens Academy did not field a softball team in 2017.

The sports staff of and along with other local media assist with selecting the All-Laurens County team.

Clark led the Lady Raiders to an 18-10 record and their fourth straight region title and fifth title in seven years. Laurens was eliminated by Byrnes in the district finals of the 5A softball playoffs. The 2017 season was Clark’s final season after he announced his retirement before the season.

Ginn paced the Lady Raiders with a .462 batting average, 11 doubles, three triples, five homeruns and 35 RBIs. She also had an on-base percentage of .515. Ginn has signed to play softball at Francis Marion University next season.  

The 2017 All-Laurens County baseball team will be announced on Wednesday, May 17.
