Former LDHS interim head varsity boys basketball coach Andre Lytes has been named the head varsity boys basketball coach at Saluda High School.

Lytes took over the LDHS program in January after Ben Sinclair was suspended and later resigned. He served as a varsity boys assistant at LDHS for four years and a varsity girls assistant for three years.

Lytes has also served as a football coach at Gray Court-Owings Middle School for seven years, including four years as head coach. He coached track and field at LDHS for three years.

A graduate of LDHS, Lytes was a standout basketball player and played for Newberry College from 1993-1997.

Lytes replaces Lawrence Kelly, who served one year as head boys basketball coach at Saluda. Saluda, a member of Region III-AA, finished the 2016-2017 season with a record of 16-12.
