Laurens Coaches Pitch All-Stars split games on Saturday, stay alive in state tournament

The Laurens All-Stars split games on Saturday but advanced to the final four of the SC Little League Coaches Pitch State Tournament at Laurens City Park.

Laurens lost their first game on Saturday 18-4 to Tyger River. Defensive errors plagued Laurens throughout the game.

Logan Martin was 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Caleb Hardy was also 2 for 2.

In their first elimination game, Laurens scored seven runs in the first inning on their way to a 15-4 win over Summerville Blue.

Landin Harris and Wyatt Pinson reached base four times and scored four runs each. Tyler Avery reached base three times.

Jaylin Bluford, Brayden Patterson and Avery led the defensive effort for Laurens.

Laurens will have to defeat Tyger River twice on Sunday to advance to the state championship game on Monday. The first game on Sunday is at 6pm and, if necessary, the second game will be played at 8pm.
