Jones picks up five hits this week for Batavia Muckdogs

Laurens native and Miami Marlins minor leaguer Thomas Jones picked up five hits during his second week of the 2017 season with the Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League.

Batavia is 5-8 on the season, after losing five of their six games this week.

Jones started the week on Monday with a 1 for 3 performance with an RBI and two walks. The Muckdogs were off on Tuesday and Jones was 0 for 4 in their next game on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Jones was 2 for 4 with a walk, RBI and his first stolen base of the season. He followed that up with a 1 for 4 game on Friday that included a double, RBI and he was hit by a pitch.

Jones was 1 for 4 on Saturday before having the day off on Sunday.

For the week, Jones batted .263 with five hits, a double, 3 RBIs, 3 walks and a stolen base.

Over the first two weeks of the season, Jones is batting .220 with four doubles, a triple, four runs scored and seven RBIs. His on-base percentage is .365.
