Racing Report: Ronnie Brookshire Memorial moved to Aug. 25

A week after the Saturday night card was called before it started at Laurens County Speedway, the Ronnie Brookshire Memorial race card also fell to the hands of Mother Nature.

Saturday’s racing schedule was called off through three divisions of heat racing after rains hit the track at about 9:26 p.m. The rainout was the third of the season at the speedway, and the second in as many weeks.

Heat races had been completed in three divisions – Thunder Bombers, 602 Crate, and Monster Mini – and the drivers in the first Front-Wheel Drive heat race had come out onto the track when the second rain delay of the night started. The first had started just short of 9 p.m., but was over as quickly as it started, but on the second delay it didn’t take very long for speedway officials to make the decision to call off the card.

The Ronnie Brookshire Memorial card will now be held on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Laurens County Speedway. Because this card will be on a Friday, the regular Saturday night race card previously slated for Aug. 26 will not be held.
