Laurens All-Stars top Northwood to win Little League state championship

The Laurens 9-11 All-Stars reeled off their third straight win on Wednesday night to capture the SC Little League state championship in Taylors.

Laurens needed just five innings to defeat Northwood 15-5. Northwood dealt Laurens their only loss in their second game of the tournament, 8-3.

Laurens scored seven runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Northwood scored two runs in the second before Laurens answered with a run to stay on top 8-2.

Laurens added two runs in the third, one in the fourth and four in the fifth. Northwood scored three more runs in their half of the fifth.

Zay Pulley picked up the win on the mound, throwing 4 and 1/3 innings and striking out two.

With the win, Laurens advances to the Little League Tournament of State Champions in Greenville, NC beginning July 28. Laurens will open the tournament against Tennessee on July 29 at 10am.
