Thomas Jones in the minors: Week of July 31

Laurens native and Miami Marlins minor leaguer Thomas Jones hit safely in three of five games this past week with the Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League.

Batavia is 16-28 on the season, after finishing the week with a record of 3-3. The Muckdogs were rained out on Friday of this past week. 

Jones batted first, second, third, fifth and sixth in the lineup last week, starting in centerfield in five of six games. Jones was not in the lineup on Thursday but was used as a pinch runner. 

On Monday, Jones was 1 for 4 and he followed that up, going 0 for 5 on Tuesday.

Jones was held hitless on Wednesday but was walked once. On Saturday, Jones batted third and was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. 

Jones was 1 for 4 on Sunday with a stolen base.

For the week, Jones was 3 for 19 with a run scored, walk, stolen base and an RBI.

For the season (41 games), Jones is batting .192 with six doubles, three triples, 18 runs scored and 13 RBIs. His on-base percentage is .318.
