Strong finish gives Raiders 63-42 win over Emerald

The Laurens Raiders outscored the Emerald Vikings 24-7 in the fourth quarter to secure a 63-42 win on Thursday night at Emerald High School.

Laurens led 14-9 after the first quarter and held a 27-21 lead at halftime. The Raiders couldn’t shake the Vikings in the third quarter, holding a six-point lead at 39-33.

Laurens went on a 13-4 run to start the fourth quarter and then scored the final 11 points of the game.

Christian Anderson led Laurens with 21 points, followed by Dee Foster with 14 and Carson Todd with nine. Ty Foster scored seven points and Ryan Dacre added five. Other scorers included Ja’von Harris 3, Leonard Williams 2, Cedraquan McDowell 2.

Laurens improves to 7-7 overall and will open their region schedule at Mauldin on Tuesday at 7:30pm. Girls will tip at 6pm.

In the girl’s game, Emerald defeated Laurens 74-35.

Scoring for the Lady Raiders: Heisey 11, Burnside 5, Fortson 5, Vance 5, Allen 4, Espinoza 4, Mosley 1.
