Clinton tennis blanks Riverside, soccer falls at South Pointe

Clinton High School opened its boys' tennis season officially on Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Blue Ridge. The Red Devils won two out of three matches last week in the Palmetto Tennis Classic.

Against Blue Ridge, in singles, Isaac MacMillan won over John Messer 6-2, 6-3; Ike Waldron over Mac McDaniel 6-2, 6-4; Tyler Trevino over James Sewell 6- 1, 6-1; Alexander Windsor over Eck Eleazer 6-3, 6-0; and Anders Orr over J. T. Meurer 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, MacMillan-Waldron defeated Messer-McDaniel 8-6, and Simmons-Minor defeated Hall-Chisam 8-6.

The Red Devils open Region 3-3A play on Monday at home against Chapman, beginning at 5 p.m.

The Clinton soccer team traveled to South Pointe in Rock Hill, where the Red Devils fell, 4-2, on penalty kicks after the teams played through overtime tied, 1-1.

Clinton will be at home on Friday against Woodruff at the Clinton Middle School field. The region opener begins at 7.
