Raider Rumblings: Results from LDHS track, golf and tennis

The Laurens District High School girls track and field team finished in fourth place at their first meet of the year on Wednesday at Hillcrest High School.

Freshman Jamya Chappell paced Laurens with a 2nd place finish in the 100m (13.07 secs). Alexus Espinoza finished 7th in the 200m dash.

Completing their first ever 100m hurdle race, sophomores Aija Davis and Andrea Choice placed 6th and 7th overall. Davis also placed 4th in the long jump. Nadia Anderson competed in her first track meet and placed 6th in the discus throw.

The Raiders will be in action again on Tuesday, March 13, competing against Clinton, Strom Thurmond, and McCormick at LDHS.

The Laurens boys track team placed 3rd in their first action of the 2018 season at Hillcrest High School.

Josh Campbell won the long jump with a jump of 19'6", while Travon Grant placed 7th. Orin Patterson was the top Raider 400-meter runner, placing 7th.

Zy Todd placed 3rd in his 110m high hurdles race and 4th in the 400m hurdles. Isaac Craig finished 10th in the 400m.

Evan Prince placed 3rd in the 1600m run with a time of 5:03.02 seconds. Seven McBeth placed in both shot put and discus, while Javen Latimore was the high Laurens placer in Discus.

The LDHS boys golf team lost to TL Hanna 165-211 on Wednesday. Scores for Laurens were: Collin Harlan 51, Bailey Goode and David Hampton 53, Ryan Elledge 54.

Laurens varsity boys tennis lost to Belton-Honea Path 4-3 on Wednesday.
