The Laurens Raiders (0-3) couldn’t get things going at the plate against the Riverside Warriors on Friday night in a 6-3 loss.

Heath Bragg took the mound first for the Raiders on Friday. Bragg would end his night in the fifth inning with five strikeouts, three walks, eight hits, and six runs allowed. Jalen Bragg entered in relief of Heath and throw for two strikeouts, one walk, one hit with no runs allowed. Tanner Smith closed the game out for the Laurens with two strikeouts and no runs allowed in his lone inning. Heath Bragg is accredited with the loss.

After going scoreless in the first inning, it would be the Warriors who struck first after back-to-back base hits scored two runs. After holding the Raiders scoreless in the bottom of the second, the Warriors put runners on the corners before scoring their third run of the night off of a single to right field.

Laurens found themselves down 3-0 with Ty Foster coming up to the plate in the third. Foster kicked off the bottom of the third inning in style with a double down the left field line. Foster stole third shortly before Kobe Williams reached first on a walk. Williams stole second and put two runners in scoring position with Jalen Bragg at the plate. Bragg’s singled past the shortstop and scored Foster, putting runners on the corners. Williams would make his way home on a fielder's choice and leave the Raiders down 3-2 going into the fourth.

A great inning on the mound from Heath Bragg, featuring two strikeouts, would end the inning for the Warriors. The Raiders were held in check with three groundouts in four batters to end the fourth.

Things went south for the Raiders in the fifth starting with back-to-back hits to put runners on the corners. Riverside’s Greg Keilman would seize the opportunity on his third at bat and send the ball right of the center field fence leaving the Raiders down 6-2. Coach Tori Patterson pulled Heath Bragg in favor of Jalen Bragg, who kept the damage light to end the inning.

Both teams went scoreless in the sixth inning with the bottom of both lineups making appearances. Tanner Smith went in for Jalen Bragg and closed the top of the seventh out with back-to-back strikeouts and swung momentum in the favor of the Raiders with one last shot to tie or win the game.

Foster came up first in the bottom of the seventh and lined out deep to right field. Kobe Williams singled to centerfield to give Laurens a baserunner. A fielder's choice from Jalen Bragg followed by an error on Nathan Rutter’s grounder to the shortstop would send Williams home, cutting the Warrior lead to three with two outs. The Raiders would go on to lose 6-3 as Zak Rice grounded out.

Kobe Williams went 2 for 3 at the plate with a walk. Ty Foster, Kobe Williams, Jalen Bragg, Nathan Rutter, Heath Bragg, and Nicholas Robertson would all finish with at least one hit.

The Raiders will return home Monday to take on the Emerald Vikings starting with the JV Raiders at 5:30.
