Coastal Carolina redshirt-junior quarterback Alex Ross (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Coastal Carolina senior linebacker Quinn Backus (Greenwood, S.C.) have been voted the Big South Conference’s 2014 Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, by the League’s head football coaches and media panel, it was announced today at the Big South Football Media Day Kickoff Luncheon at the Charlotte Marriott City Center Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

For the second consecutive year, defending Conference co-champion Coastal Carolina University has been tabbed the favorite in the Big South Conference’s annual preseason football poll for the 2014 campaign, as voted by the League’s head coaches and media panel and announced today at the 2014 Big South Conference Football Kickoff Media Luncheon at the Charlotte Marriott City Center Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

Billy Rushton took home another main event at Laurens County Speedway Saturday night, winning his eighth race of the season in the Limited Division. Rushton won by 16 seconds over Kevin Baker, while Butch Riddle was third, with Mike Kernells fourth and Jimmy Taylor fifth.
